APDA publishes a quarterly organ magazine "Population and Development", ODA Quarterly, and Resource Series publications with the aim of increasing awareness in fields related to population and development.
The organ magazine, "Population and Development" consists of reports on parliamentarians' activities relating to population and development, trends in international organizations, expert papers and summaries of newspaper articles on the subject of population and development in Japanese. Four times a year copies are distributed to a wide range of readers in Japan and abroad to enhance awareness of the population and development issue in general. Such recipients include: Parliamentarians, Ministries, business sector, experts, scholars, Japanese Embassies abroad, journalists, research institutions, NGOs, International Organizations and universities and libraries.
The Japanese ODA Quarterly publication was originally proposed by the then Director for Global Issues of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with the intention that to maintain Japan's ODA it is imperative to increase understanding of ODA and population issues, in such a way as to reduce opposition to Japan's ODA policy. Hence, this information service aims to inform readers of current trends in population issues emphasizing the importance of Japanese ODA and the activities of APDA, UNFPA Tokyo office, NPO 2050 and Japanese Organization for International Cooperation in Family Planning (JOICFP), which are all supported by Japanese ODA.
The Resource Series is generally an APDA translation of UNFPA, APDA or other organizations' publications and/or a compilation of original articles translated into Japanese, which aims to provide valuable information as a reference for parliamentarians, experts and individuals who are interested in population and development issues. The Resource Series has covered such issues as reproductive health, gender equality, HIV/AIDS, population and peace-building, sustainable use of safer water, environmental sustainability, extreme poverty and hunger and human security. Recipients of this publication include parliamentarians, experts, scholars, journalists, research institutions, NGOs, international organizations, university libraries, Asian Embassies in Japan and the general public.
