APDA has been convening the "Asian Parliamentarians' Meeting on Population and Development (APDA Meeting)" annually since 1985, in cooperation with UNFPA, IPPF and AFPPD. Every year, the APDA meeting is held in various Asian and the Pacific countries and is attended by parliamentarians from across the region. The purpose of this annual meeting is to continuously update Japanese and Asian parliamentarians on population and development issues, promote exchange among Asian parliamentarians and activate parliamentary movement on population and development in Asia.
On occasion the International Meeting of Parliamentarians and Related Organisations may involve a study tour of local field projects to extend the expert knowledge presented at the conference and provide parliamentarians with concrete results to be used as an advocacy tool in their home countries.
